[Locked to Torchwood]

Gwen,

Sam's spotty when it comes to his mobile when he's out after something. I can't imagine he's going to be checking his journal. I can take the second SUV out to warn him, if that's all right.

To whom it may concern,

The ability granted to me by the Rift is the ability to transform into one of two animals, neither one native to this region: a Malayan sun bear and a fennec fox. If either of these animals are sighted around the tower one may assume that this is me; I'll be happy to shift back if there's anything requiring my assistance.

Locked to Karunamayi

I think it might be a good thing for you to meet the rest of Torchwood, at some point. If you'd like to come over, we're on the corner of Wabash and Lake. I can meet you outside and let you in.

Sorry. Torchwood are my employers. They're aware of angels and demons and the sort.

I seem to have acquired an angel.

Her name is Karunamayi. I'm beginning to wonder if ex-CID are just assigned one upon entrance to Torchwood.

To be honest, she's a bit... she's very strange. Friendly, but odd. And she seemed to take the first opportunity to leave, though she was very cheerful about having met me.

[Locked to Sam] Re: Torchwood

Why not. I don't seem to be making much of a difference around the hotel any more. I may as well see what I can do for Torchwood.

Is it just me, or has the rate of new Wanderers dropped off?

This is mad. The mayor of my city of residence was just assassinated, and I'm sitting on my arse watching it on the telly. I never thought I would miss CID this much.

Well, they've got us all quartered in individual rooms in the hotel. I've been in and out of the basement; a lot of the Wanderers don't seem to think it's very safe, though it only seems a bit grim, to me. I have to admit, I was having a better time of it when they actually had some use for me. I'm not sure who's picking up and orienting the Wanderers who come through now, but they haven't seen fit to call me in for it.

I'm more than a little bored.

On the plus, I think I've got this shifting thing mostly down.

How is your life these days?

[Locked to the Basement]

What the HELL is going on down here? What kind of incident, exactly, transpired, and is whoever perpetrated it being dealt with?

[Locked to Sam]Are you all right? I've just shifted back, and – look, never mind it. I know you're hurt, but I couldn't find you in the med room, not to mention I was nearly stopped by a pair of angels I've never seen before when I tried to go inside. Are you being taken care of?[/Lock]

[Locked to basement residents]

I can't believe that no one would have thought of this before, but is there any reason we don't have something set up to alert us when someone comes through the rift? Some sort of motion-sensor, or a bell like a shop entrance? So far, finding new arrivals has been mostly happenstance.

[Locked to Jack Harkness]

Captain Harkness,

I'm not certain of the procedure for this. A man's come through the Rift; he seems at least familiar with alternate universes and this general sort of thing, and asked a few technical questions I wasn't able to answer. I've referred him to your team, if that's all right.

He introduced himself as Major General Daniel Jackson of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

Why isn't there any command structure here? Or at least an oversight structure? I've just had to explain to one of our new arrivals, a Major General in the Egyptian Armed Forces, that there are four people here who could be considered to be in command, and the two who are invested in being in command have been butting heads at every opportunity.
